Meeting Date: Zoom meeting on May 31, 2021, President Ben opened the meeting at 7:00 pm
1. Ben introduced our guest speaker Sharon Alliet, the Coordinator/Treasurer of the new Adult Activity Centre.
 • The Centre recently received an $800,000 donation from the Bill and Lynn Grey Foundation to help pay for the rest of The Centre’s construction.
• Inside The Centre: stayed mostly to the plans, with a few changes to cupboards etc made.
• All security systems are in
• All systems for doing programs are in.
• There will be some moveable walls, with the same insulation as the other walls to lessen sound transmission are back-ordered.
• Some washroom fixtures are back-ordered.
• Outside: sidewalks, paving etc still need to be done.
• Landscapers (Jason Zehr) are ready to go, once the project folks give them the Ok.
• Will start occupancy, for Sharon and a few others the 2nd or 3rd week in June.
• Move dependent on back-ordered items coming in to finish interior.
• Members will be asked to renew their membership, with no fees, for now, to allow records to be updated.
• They will be testing some programs, No member/access fees until next April.
• There will be some outside lighting on all the time, as well as 3 light standards in the parking lot.
• In answer to a question from Ben, this project started in the fall of 2019, which was good for The Centre because if it had been much later, COVID 19 had started and many organizations/people were making donations to help with that.
• There will be the same programs running as before, with decisions about new ones made sometime later.
• The Centre has 7500 sq. ft. compared to 2500 in the present centre on Main St.
• There are 5 different rooms in the new centre, so many more programs/events can run concurrently.
• There may be a few online programs for those who can’t get to The Centre, but most will take place in the new building.
• There will be tours for folks once they are allowed to do so, plus groups who made significant donations will be invited for a small ceremony.
• It will always be The Ridgetown and Area Adult Activity Centre, but in everyday use, “The Centre”.
• Ron B. thanked Sharon.
2. Bob and Reinout: May is Rotary Youth Service month.
• They hadn’t talked, so Bob will check with the Scout leader Adam to see if they have any needs.
3. Kees: Update
• Scrap Metal: Reinout got a cheque in the mail for the last trailer of scrap metal and it is about 3 times as much as last year. The next trailer is filling fast.
• Crocuses for Polio: Paul has the poster. He is going to talk to Steve Pinsonnault re doing it on a sign for us to use at the Farmer’s Market etc.
• The price per bag of 20 crocuses needs to be added to the poster.
On the District level;
1. Ben: Remind Rotarians of "Get a shot give a drop".
• Ben reminded members about this initiative.
2. Paul/Kees: "Pints for Polio".
• Paul’s friend Pam Smith, who does the artwork at TMWC talked to David Mc Guire and she has done design to put on the cans of beer that The Sons of Kent will be doing for October’s Polio Month.
• Pam has sent it to them, to add their logo.
3. Ben: "Ride don't Hide". Still time to put your name in.
• Ben and Kees put about 9 signs up around Ridgetown about this event.
• Reinout will send them a cheque for $250, our club’s contribution to the event.
• Members can still take part and give their own donations. 4. Ben: There will be a sector 1+2 joint Zoom meeting this Wednesday which he will attend. A few other notes.
• A woman came gave Ben a $200.00 cheque for use by the club wherever they see fit.
• Bob received a cheque for $100 for use of some medical equipment, even though it wasn’t used. The people still wanted to donate it because Rotary does good work
• Ben thanked Paul and Kees for keeping members informed through the ClubRunner minutes. President Ben asked if there was “Anything for the good of Rotary?” Ben closed the meeting at 7:55 pm.
The next meeting is a Zoom Meeting on June 14, 2021. Amanda Litman, who attended the virtual Adventures in Citizen will say a few words about her experience
