Meeting Date: 2021-07-26, at the Ridgetown Golf Course.
President Jeff opened the meeting at 6:30 pm.
After O Canada, the introduction of guests, grace, and dinner, Jeff opened the business part of the meeting.
Program:
1. Correspondence received.
- Thank you cards from Mya Duffy, McKenna Nodyen, and Fiona Van Mol for the Rotary Awards/scholarships they received at the RDHS graduation.
2. Jeff: Update on GIC Cashable.
- The idea will be dropped.
3. Henny: Donation to Quilters Update.
- Henny read a letter from the Quilters, outlining their history.
- They donate about 200 quilts annually, to a wide variety of groups from Windsor to Toronto.
- Henny showed us 2 of their quilts.
- M/S by Brian/Bob that we buy the Quilting Group a new sewing machine for approximately $800. CARRIED.
4. Jeff: Ideas for remaining Summer Meetings.
- To date the members have identified Lawn Bowling (Contact Bob Long), Golf Club Doug Paling 519-350-1663), Joint Meeting with Blenheim Club.
- Lawn Bowling is on hold since the numbers have to be confirmed with C-K Health.
- No decisions yet.
5. Jeff: The new Governor, Brenda K "WooWoo" Tipton will pay her in-person official visit on Monday, August 30th.
- After some discussion, it was decided that the Directors will meet with her at Jeff’s, then go to the Anglican Hall for her to see where we meet and finally the meeting will start at 6:30 at the Golf Course. It was confirmed that the Golf Course is free that evening. It is a spousal meeting.
Committees
1. Kees: Scrap Steel.
- Copper is paying about $3.30/lb. Stainless steel is also paying very well.
- A few hours need to be spent sorting and rearranging the bin.
2. Paul: RYLA.
- In Michigan on Oct. 29th-31st.
- We will plan to send students.
3. Paul/Kees: Pints for Polio.
- Nothing new. Paul will check with David McGuire.
4. Kees: Crocuses for Polio.
- John Schippers has asked for a small sign to put by his honey booth.
- Kees also wants to put something on Facebook and Instagram.
- Henny took orders from club members.
Jeff: Call for items of interest from the membership.
1. Ben suggested that those who weren’t wearing the badge be fined, as in the past. He met with mixed reactions, although some fines were paid.
- Jeff wondered whether members could keep their badge at home and bring it to meetings. No decision.
2. The club has received an email requesting that we be part of a “Shred It” program, where we would rent a commercial shredder and invite community members to bring their confidential material in need of shredding to a specific location.
- After Jeff gave us the projected costs, ($1904.95) it was the general decision that we pass on this plan.
3. Henny informed us that the group “Unity” will perform this Saturday at the Arena parking lot.
4. Paul informed members that the road cleanup would not take place until September.
President Jeff asked if there was “Anything for the good of Rotary?”
Jeff closed the meeting at 8:00 pm.
The next meeting is on 2021-08-09, the location to be announced.
