President Ben opened the Zoom meeting at 7:00 pm Program:
1. Guest speaker: Paul
Paul Introduced Amanda Litman, who is our student from RDHS who attended this year’s virtual Adventure in Citizenship "
• Amanda did an excellent presentation, using PowerPoint. • She did a day-by-day outline of the program, which included speakers such as Joe Clarke, former Canadian PM, Paul Martin as well as a Speaker of the Parliament in Ottawa.
• They also got to talk to two citizenship judges, spoke to a recent immigrant, and were lead through the Oath of Citizenship and received their own certificate of Citizenship.

• Amanda said that the whole experience was amazing and she thanked the club for permitting her to attend.
• A 6 min video produced by the Rotary Club of Ottawa was also shown.
• After questions from Rotarians, Amanda was thanked by Jeff.
2. Kees/Henny/Paul: Polio fundraiser "Crocuses for Polio".
• Paul gave an update about the sign for this fundraiser.
• He has been in contact with and sent to Steve Pinsonneault the sign we want.
• He will work on it this week.
3. Kees, Paul: Request for a donation towards eyeglasses from Dr. K. Ashton and Dr. P. Newman.
• After hearing the letter sent to Paul, for the club, it was decided to donate $150.00 to this cause.
• Reinout will look after it.
4. Bob and Reinout: May was "Rotary Youth Service Month". • In speaking to Adam from the Scouts, they do not need any funds at this time, but will let us know if that changes.
• Our Beavers and Cubs were mentioned in the Canadian Scouting Newsletter for their excellent fundraising activities.
• Other scouting groups have taken up their activities within their clubs.
5. Jeff: Incoming President Jeff about his presidency for 2021-22.
• Ben thanked Jeff for the 2021-22 calendar.
• Jeff asked members for ideas for where to hold our summer meetings.
• Some ideas included lawn bowling with the Kiwanians, a tour of the new Adult Activity Centre and perhaps a bbq at the Morning Star subdivision with Barry Fraser hosting.
District level;
1. Ben: Remind Rotarians about the Polio fundraiser "Get a Shot, Give a drop"
• Both Ben and Ken C. talked briefly about this.
2. Ben: Still time to put your name in the "Ride don't Hide” event
• Ben again mentioned this.
3. Paul: "Pints for polio" fundraiser.
• Paul has the label to go on the beer bottles produced by the Sons of Kent Brewery and will contact David McGuire to see if he can share it. (The answer was yes. It is below.)
4. Ken Corlett:
• On July 22 our new governor will be installed in Michigan and suggested we all meet at the Blenheim Rotary Park to celebrate her installation. Perhaps a bbq.
• Paul suggested that this could count as one of our summer meetings, even though it is on a Thursday. Committees:
1. Kees: Scrap Steel. • Doing very well with the prices up. • Kees thanked Bob, Brian, and John Schippers for their help.
• They got $1400 for aluminum and copper last week.
• Total this year is about $12000.
2. Paul: RYLA.
• Paul has been told by Marlene Morris from the U. of Guelph that RYLA will be held in the US this fall, and not in the spring of 2022 and she did not know if it will run after that.
President Ben asked if there was “Anything for the good of Rotary?” Ben closed the meeting at 8:03 pm. The next meeting is on June 28, 2021. Ron B is to look into whether we can hold the meeting in the Anglican Church Hall.
