Meeting Date: May 26th, 2025 at the Anglican Parish Hall. This was a spousal meeting. After a wonderful dinner prepared by the ACW, Kees started the meeting by thanking the ladies in the kitchen.

Program: Kees introduced Speakers Jodi Maroney and Jay Smith from the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation
Jody became the Executive Director of the C-K Hospice Foundation in 2016
The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds and awareness of the Hospice and the services it provides
Along with the Foundation Board of Directors, Jody ensures that the annual goal of $2M is raised
Jay is the Hospice Foundation Fundraising Manager, helping to oversee, develop and secure sponsorship for the Hospice’s trademark events such as the Hike for Hospice
The Hospice provides end-of-life care in a home-like setting for people with a terminal illness who are in the last stage of life
There are 10 suites as well as a great room, reflection room and courtyard where families can gather
The doors open in April 2016 and provide a sense of peace for the residents, relief for families and are a compassionate group of people
They offer residential Hospice care, care coordination and grief and bereavement support
The residential Hospice care encourages families to treat the Hospice as home with the main focus being on comfort and quality of life, ensuring that physical, spiritual and mental needs are met
Each resident has an individualized care plan, striving to understand their culture, practices and traditions
They help the residents with life-limiting illness and their caregivers navigate the healthcare system
Provide support for families with grief and bereavement support with individual sessions, by phone or virtually
They partnership with EMS individuals transferring from home to Hospice at no cost
They have an excellent volunteer program with over 180 volunteers that are key members to the Hospice team
The Hospice needs an average of $182,000 per month
The government funding covers direct medical care costs
Donations provide approximately 58% of the operating budget ($2.2 Million this year)
The Hospice Foundation was formed to provide the skills to raise the necessary funds
The donations are used to provide residential care, end-of-life coordination and the grief and bereavement support
They are also used to provide education and awareness, ensure business as usual and support a robust volunteer program
The donations come in various types, such as memorial donations, event revenue, monthly donations, grants and gifts in wills
Their signature events are their Cornhole for Hospice, Hike for Hospice and Benefit Gala every October
There are also many community events such as golf tournaments, community dinners and the Hotrods for Hospice held here in Ridgetown
This was truly an wonderful presentation that covered much more than is listed above
When finished, Kees presented both Jodi and Jay with a cheque for $1000.
2. David B: Suggestions from Members for visiting places during upcoming summer meetings
David B will send out a list of the 2025-26 meetings
Members are asked to send him suggestions for the summer meetings on July 28th and Aug. 11th

The cleanout will take place at 9:00 on Wednesday, May 28th
3. Paul: The AIC girls
Both Kallie and Lilly are at AIC and having a great time
They will do a short presentation at the June 9th meeting
Both Paul and Ben will be away, so someone else will have to introduce them
Happy Bucks/50-50
Paul because he and Ange will be in the Bahamas next week at their granddaughter’s wedding, David B because of the 1st place finishes his son had at the track recent track meet and goes on to the Chatham meet, Ben because the girls at AIC are having a great time
