President Jeff opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. After the national anthem, grace, and dinner, plus thanking the ACW for the dinner, Jeff started the meeting.
Program:
1. Jeff: Correspondence:
- Jeff passed around the following cards
- Thank You Card received from Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of CK
- also, a lovely Thank You Card from Chatham-Kent Public Library for our continued support
2. Jeff: Thank You and solicitation from Shelter Box Canada.
- Business discussion to follow. Confirmation as to monies sent this year?
- Yes, we sent them $1000 in the summer of 2021, so will not contribute more at this time
3. Paul: Adventures in Citizenship
- Date: Evening, May 27 – May 30, inclusive
- Cost: $395/participant
- Two students have given their inclination to attend: Liam Duffy and Jason Van Maanen’s son (Jason was a Rotarian about 10 years ago)
- Paul has contacted Adventures to see if we can have two participants
- M/C by Bob/Jeff: That we register and pay for 2 participants if allowed. CARRIED
4. Kees would like to alert the Club on several matters.
- Kees was going to go over the basics of Clubrunner, but his computer would not cooperate
5. Jeff: Presentation of Rotary 2021-22 Theme Pins to Ridgetown Rotarians.
- Jeff presented pins to those Rotarians who had not yet received them
6. Jeff: District Governor Meeting Feb 28th.
- a) Meal,
- b) Agenda will be forthcoming from DG’s Office,
- c) Presentation of Paul Harris Pins by District Governor,
- d) Photos, including single and group photos. Paul will bring his phone/camera
- e) Introduction by ADG Ken Corlett
- f) There was discussion and an explanation of who gets what sapphire pins
- Henny will confirm that the DG wants to come to the Hall at 5:30 pm for informal chats
- This meeting will be a spousal meeting
7. Jeff: Town bench
- It is not done yet: working on the template, which Jeff will ok
- There was discussion on its location
- Down near Shirley K.’s former office seemed to be the favored location
8. Kees/Henny: Easter Egg Hunt
- The East Kent folks are not willing to take it over
- They will certainly help, but not run it
- There was considerable discussion, no decisions.
- We need to see Kiwanis is still doing the older group
9. Paul: The D. 6380 Peace Assembly for Youth, Feb. 13th, 2022, 2-3 pm by Zoom
- Paul had sent the info about this by email to club members
- There was some discussion about this project
- Paul will go to RDHS and suggest that perhaps a history teacher might suggest it for their classes to watch
10. Jeff: Car show for 2022?
- Kees had talked to John Pearson, who asked about it.
- If we do it, on Sunday, July 9th, 2022, with no entrance fee (donation only) no fences around the park
- We will rely much more on the 50-50 draws for our revenue
- The new Sattelite-club has offered to help with any projects run by the other CK clubs, so Henny suggested that we enlist their help to sell the 50-50 tickets
- No dash plaques this year
- Jeff will check out with the Municipality regarding licenses etc
- There was also discussion about allowing vendors on the site
Committees:
a) Kees: Scrap Metal
- KSR and Total Comfort have items
- Ron will bring his tractor since several items are large and heavy
