Meeting Date: 2021-11-22
President Jeff opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. After the national anthem, grace, and dinner, plus thanking the ACW for the dinner, Jeff started the meeting.
Program: This was a business meeting.
1. Ron: Review of Xmas Party Covid Protocol for utilization of Church Hall.
- Important that invited guests receive a copy of the COVID Criteria required to enter the building.
- Same rules as to when going to a restaurant. See the full rules at the end of these minutes.
- The Club will need a volunteer to review and verify documents from guests as they arrive. Henny volunteered to do this.
- This is a shirt and tie event. Wear a Paul Harris pin.
- The deadline for confirming your attendance, and any guests, is Nov. 29th.
- There will be some spirits, wine, and beer. Donation appreciated.
- The meal is at 6:30 pm, door open at 5:30 pm.
- Carla’s Niece’s husband is a singer (Opera).
2. Kees: Updated Members on:
a) Scrap Metal.
- A cheque is owing.
- We are still having stuff from the bin taken by persons unknown.
- The last container earned approximately $1800.
b) “The Gift”, Nov. 20, 2021.
- Reasonably well organized.
- We had 6 sections for our members to cover, in the SW part of Ridgetown.
- Appeared to be less given this year, but donations of better quality.
- Paul went over some of the stats regarding the donations.
- 1/3 to ½ of the toys will go to the Salvation Army.
- Over $2000 in monetary donations, cash, and cheques, much of it for the Salvation Army.
- The Scout Hut will be open on Dec. 10th to 12th for those who are in need can come to pick up what they need.
3. Jeff: John Cryderman’s donation of the boomerang plaque.
- Jeff has discussed with John Cryderman as to whether or not we should establish a minimum start figure on bids for the auctioning of his Boomerang. His preference was NO Minimum.
- Guidelines have been sent to the other C-K clubs, and Jeff will send them out to our club.
- The deadline for bids is Monday, Dec. 20th. With bids sent to President Jeff.
4. Jeff/Paul: Help those in BC affected by the flooding over the past weekend.
- Paul mentioned his idea to send some form of financial donation.
- Henny brought up the fact that we had not helped those folks in Wheatley after the gas explosion.
- There was some discussion and the following motion was made.
- Moved/Seconded by Ron/Bob: That $1000 each is donated to both BC and Wheatley.
- After some discussion, this motion was deferred until our Dec. 20th meeting.
Correspondence:
1. A thank you letter was received from the librarian at RDHS for our donation of $300 for the purchase of books.
2. A letter was received from the Ridgetown Figure Skating Club requesting support.
- After some discussion, it was decided that no donation would be sent.
President Jeff asked if there was “Anything for the good of Rotary?”
The meeting closed the meeting at 8:02 pm.
The next meeting is on 2021-12-06, ie the Christmas party.
Guidelines for The Rotary Christmas Party.
The guidelines are the same as going to a restaurant
- Proof of double vaccination will be required to enter the hall.
- Must wear a mask to enter the hall.
- No singing National anthem will be played on TV
- Apply hand sanitizer.
- Sign in on the contact sheet.
- Apply hand sanitizer.
- Wear your mask at all times unless seated at a dining table.
- When going up for food, wear your mask.
- Apply food sanitizer at the beginning of the food table
- Self-serve food.
- Clearing of dishes. It would be appreciated if Rotarians will take their plate ware and dinnerware to the provided area after finishing your meal. This minimizes contact with the ladies providing the meal.
- Coffee and tea are self-serve.
