Meeting Date:  June 27th, 2022 at the Anglican Hall.
President Jeff opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. After the national anthem, grace, and dinner, plus thanking the ACW for the dinner (and giving the ladies 3 hip-hip-hoorays) Jeff started the meeting.
 
Program:
1. Jeff: Welcomed ADG Ken Corlett.
  • Ken thanked Jeff, stating that it is always a pleasure coming to our club
  • He has enjoyed working with Jeff and mentioned that our club is getting a citation again this year
  • Talked a bit about the incoming Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, who is from Windsor
  • He mentioned that the colors on the Rotary tie for this year are yellow and blue and explained the significance of each
  • He showed and explained the 2023-24 symbol for RI, and mentioned that the 2023 RI convention is in Australia
  • He gave a tie to Kees, who put it on, and a scarf for his fellow ADG Henny (see photo below)
  • He handed out a card to everyone about the “Meet the Governor” Bala Murthy on July 21st in Kensington Metro Park in Michigan, commencing at 3:00 pm.
2. Jeff. Outgoing President’s Remarks.
  • He won’t miss all the emails he has received relating to Rotary this year
  • He noted that at the D. 6380 Convention it was mentioned that RI is doing a whole review of RI
  • To quote Jeff, “It’s been a slice.”
 
 
3. Kees/Henny: In Change of Command Ceremony.
  • President: Kees Boeters, sworn in by Henny.
  • All others swore in by Kees, not necessarily in this order
  • Treasurer: Reinout Von Martels
  • Secretary: Paul Brown
  • Directors: David Klatt, Ben van Heeswijk, Brian Pasmore, Bob Wilson
  • President Elect: Ron Bolohan 
  • Sergeant-at-Arms: David Klatt
  • Past President: Jeff Geddes
4. Kees: New President’s Remarks.
  • Kees first mentioned John Schippers having passed away on Thursday, June 23rd, and how much he will be missed
  • It’s a busy week
  • The Canada Day parade is on June 30th, at 6:00 pm
  • We need a wagon so we will get the wagon/wheel from Dresden
  • It needs some repairs and it was arranged that Reinout could pull it into the parade
  • When finished after the parade, it will go to Reinout’s for repairs
  • It will be used at the car show
  • The car show will be on July 10th and will count as our first meeting in July
  • The next meeting with being on July 25th, lawn bowling with the Kiwanis club
  • Aug. 9th, Matinee they play Divine Woman Songs at Petrolia, with maybe Lunch before. Let Kees know if you are going, soon!
  • Aug. 22nd, potluck at Kees/Henny’s home
  • Sept. 12th, a joint meeting with Dresden club in their new hall, with Bala Murthy in attendance
 
Committees:
1. Jeff: Car Show
  • Bob has the license for the 50-50 draw
  • Brian has arranged for the electricity and water to be turned on
  • Jeff has arranged for the Porta Cabins
  • The Highgate Lions club will be setting up their food stand for breakfast and lunch
  • Yeck’s will run their bus from 8:00-11:00 am to take vehicle owners to the Smokehouse
  • Tickets for the 2 door prizes are to be given out as vehicles enter through the west gate
  • There will be members looking after the gate of York St and the east entrance over the bridge.
  • Donations will be collected at all of these entrances
  • Cleanup of the park will take place on Saturday, July 9th
  • Bob will do the sign with the hourly 50-50 winners
  • Our regular DG will be there
2. Kees: Scrap Steel/Comments in Honour of John Schippers
  • Kees mentioned how much he will miss John S who spent so much time with Kees doing scrap steel
  • Kees will need others to pick up the slack since he can’t do it all himself
  • Specifically, next Wednesday, July 6th, cleaning up around the bin and taking a bbq apart
 
 
 
Other:
  • Reinout mentioned the Farm Safety program will again run at the Ag school, on July 19th
  • Our help will again be needed to use the bbq, which Kees has arranged to get from the Legion, cooking hotdogs
  • Utensils, coolers, etc needed 
 
President Jeff asked if there was “Anything for the good of Rotary?”                                    
 
Jeff closed the meeting at 8:04 pm.
 
The next meeting is on July 10th, at the car show.
