Meeting Date: 2022-02-28, at the Anglican Hall.
  • Pre-meeting & socializing with the District Governor and her accompanying party from 5:30-6:30. Complimentary refreshments were available to run by Ron
  • President Jeff opened the meeting at 6:30 pm. After the two national anthems, grace, and dinner, plus thanking the ACW for the dinner, Jeff started the actual meeting.
 
Program:
1. Formal Introduction of DG by ADG Ken Corlett
  • Brenda had worked for AT&T for over 23 years, currently serving as a Technical Team Lead. She also is a business partner in a growing Anti-Aging Health and Wellness company
  • She joined Rotary in 2012 with the Livingston Sunrise Club, being president in 2017-18 she grew the club membership by 22 new members and has served on several different committees, club and district
  • She has a winter home in Florida, where she enjoys boxing, yoga, and boating, and has 3 rescue collies
2. District Governor’s remarks to our Club.
  • Brenda was glad to be in Ridgetown, staying at the RM hotel in Chatham
  • She was meeting with 3 other clubs on Tuesday with an additional one on Wednesday
  • Happy that we are getting out of the pandemic
  • It’s an honor to be the District Governor.
  • One of her themes: “Engage, Excite and Have Fun”
  • She has worked hard to train leaders how to use the various internet tools
  • It’s all about goals and initiatives, and she has been training folks on how to do this
  • She has started several new committees, two of them are the Peace and DEIJ Committees, and tries to have a district event every month
  • She is looking forward to the District Conference with no pandemic
  • Its focus will be our clubs; there will be a House of Friendship (WooWoo’s club hub), which will be a chance for each club to let everyone know about their club and what they have been doing
  • In answer to a question about what the district is doing about the Ukraine crisis, not much yet. Time will tell. There are lots of Rotary clubs in Russia
  • Mar. 10-12, PETS in Kalamazoo
  • Started the new InspireX speaker's committee and every three months, they are scheduling a virtual speaker on a targeted topic.  March 24 with be targeted towards the Impact and History of Women in Rotary
  • Apr. 23, in Ann Arbor, the district is celebrating the environment with an All-District Environment workday.  Going to team with Canadian clubs to do alike project for Watershed Clean-up
  • Friday, May 20th at Paradise Park, a day of fun games including golf and some speakers
  • The District Conference is in Novi, Michigan, on May 20,22. The DG encouraged all club members to consider going, especially now with the loosening of COVID restrictions
  • April 3rd The district will be presenting Interact Assembly
  • The International Conference is in Houston Texas, June 4-8, 2022
  • There was discussion about the “Each One, Bring One” and how the new subdivision in town could help our club bring in new members
  • Brenda thanked Henny, Ken, and Kees for all they do
3. Presentations of Paul Harris Pins by District Governor to receiving members.
  • DG Brenda presented new Paul Harris Pins to 7 members for having contributed $1000 to Rotary International
  • They were Paul B, Warren J, Jeff G, David K, Brian P, Murray S Judie W, and Bob W.
  • Two are also held in keeping for Bill L  and Blake S
  • Each has one sapphire except Murray Scoyne’s which now has 4 sapphires.
4. Photos, including single and group photos.
  • Pictures were taken of President Jeff and DG Brenda
  • .As well, a photo was taken of the Paul Harris pin recipients
  • After much rearranging and shuffling, a group club photo with DG Brenda and ADG Ken was also taken. Organizing kindergarten kids is almost easier
