Meeting Date: On Monday, May 27, 2024, after the usual wonderful meal prepared by the ACW, Ron started this meeting by thanking the ladies in the kitchen.
Program: This was a business meeting.
1. Reinout: Financial Report
- Reinout went over the revenues and disbursements this year so far this year
- Over the next while, he will be putting together the 2024-25 budget
- As the new exec comes in place, it will be their responsibility to go over and have the budget accepted by the club
2. Ron: Directors 2024-25
- At the last Directors’ meeting, it was decided that the leaders for each 2 month period will also be part of the Directors for the whole year
- This will keep the leaders up to date with the operation of the club
- They will be responsible for the functioning of the club
3. Kees Boeters: Presentation
- At the recent District conference, there were 8 citations awarded and Ridgetown was one of the 8
- Kees had submitted a an application for one of the grants that the District was offering, where the club did not have to match it
- We received a $500 US grant and we will double it and present it to Beatrice for her to use in one of her projects in Kenya
3. Kees and/or Henny: District Conference Report
- At the U. of Michigan in Ann Arbor
- It was very hectic
- There were approximately 150 people in attendance, with approximately 25% under 50 years of age and many 40-65
- Friday night was a social
- Saturday morning stated with a Club Hub that allowed clubs to show what they had been doing over the year, with 22 entries from very enthusiastic members, including lots of Interact members
- Mental Health was a big issue
- Henny went over the various parts of the program
- It was a good conference for both Henny and Kees
- A grant ($2500) for us to plant more trees was approved
Correspondence:
- A letter from RDHS thanking us for our $1000 donation towards scholarships and awards was received.
- A representative from the club should be in attendance at the commencement for RDHS to present the awards.w
Committees:
1. Brian: An update re the July 14th car show
- Everything is good to go
- Paul will be doing an interview on the local radio stations the week of the show
- A roving reporter from the radio stations will be at the car show for a couple of hours
Other Items:
1. Paul: Volunteering for the Special Olympics in CK
- Paul mentioned that there two volunteer orientation nights, at St. Clair Collage, on May 31 and June 7th, both from 6-8
- Paul, will be attending the June 7th one, Bob and Kees did get to the meeting from May 31
2. ShelterBoxes
- M/S Paul/Bob: That we donate $1200 to buy a ShelterBox. Carried
3. Scrap Metal
- Ron thanked all those who have worked on the scrap metal this year
- Hoskins may be selling the land where the box is presently located; time will tell
- If sold, we will need a new location to put the box
