SheepDog is a hidden gem in our midst
The presenters and founders were Alice and Pavel Kriz
The tour began with a video PowerPoint presentation of the origin of film and a video presentation of the techniques from the early 1800’s to current
The developers of the various techniques was provided with the likes of Kodak, etc
There were cameras and projectors on display, some of which came from Switzerland and France
The studio has won several awards for videos, some of which are from Disney itself
Workshops are provided for students (ages 10 and up) and are taught either in-house or on-line as their studio is an international one and contains the technology and means for anyone to participate from anywhere in the world
One thing their studio is proud of is that it prepares their students for an opportunity to enter Sheridan College, which is considered to be an elite school for animation
Alice is a graduate of Sheridan College and she has spent several years as a professor of animation at Conestoga College
SheepDog Animation has been in business for 10 years and deals with all aspects of animation from flip drawings, cell painting (expensive), digital animation and 2d and 3d animation
Pavel talked about and demonstrated the various audio devices and projectors from the early 1800’s and the technology that existed at the turn of the 19th century: Truly amazing
This equipment demonstrated was proprietary and as a result photographs were not allowed
SheepDog Animation is a lost jewel in our area
One only needs to take a tour and see the amazing work and talent that Alice and Pavel have to appreciate all that is there
Hidden by the exterior walls of their building is an amazing adventure.
It can only be appreciated by visiting it
