Bob Wilson introduced speakers Adam and Angie Frazee, Scout Leaders for 1st Ridgetown Scouts
Adam thanked Rotary for the Paul Harris Awards they received on May 1st at the District Conference; it was a great honour to receive this recognition
Adam shared that his dad contracted polio as a toddler and Angie’s great uncle was a polio survivor as well
Angie recalled her memories of attending Adventures in Citizenship while in high school
Using a PowerPoint, they showed us the great many activities they have done with the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures since they last visited our meeting
The 4 sections of Scouts are Beavers (ages 5-7), Cubs (8-10), Scouts (11-14) and Ventures (15-17), which all meet every week
As a different perspective for Remembrance Day, the Scouts & Ventures went on a tour of the Timmermans family vintage warbird collection at the CK airport. They had the opportunity to see warplanes up close such has the Harvard, P-51D Mustang, Messerschmitt Bf 109; German Luftwaffe fighter
The Beavers did their own version of an Easter Egg Hunt, searching for eggs around Watson Grove Park following compass directions
Scouts and Ventures went on 3 winter camping weekends this past winter, both outdoor tenting and in cabins, which they really liked, with a few Ventures discovering a few of them shared a like for playing the guitar
The group volunteered for several projects this past year including assisting with “The Gift”, unloading and sorting the food and gift donations, helping the Rotary club plant trees on the TREES trail and assisting the club plant 300 trees for the Erie Lake Shore Stabilization project
The Cubs, Scouts and Ventures attended Can-Am Camp at Camp Attawandaron near The Pinery with around 500 campers, and were surprised to be awarded the top-performing troop award
Their Apple Days where they gave away apples as a thank you in several places around the area raised funds for their weekly activities throughout the year
Cubs, Scouts and Ventures built cub car, scout trucks and dragsters for the annual races, bringing home several awards
They do many good deeds around Ridgetown, such as cleaning ditches and building snowmen for the folks at The Village since service is part of their big part of their programming
All sections work on first aid training throughout the year with 14 earning Red Cross certification for Standard First Aid, CPR and AED training
The Venturers attended their first Vent-Moot with about 750 campers in attendance, where they enjoyed the repelling tower and many other new adventures
Something of note was that Murray Scoyne, our Rotarian who recently passed away at the age of 97 started Scouts in Ridgetown
Using many more slides, they showed us the great many other activities that the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures have been involved in: an impressive display
Adam and Angie, along with several other leaders have done a wonderful job with youth in our area
Souts.ca is a website where anyone in the community can thank a Scout
Brian Pasmore, a former Scout leader thanked Adam and Angie for their dedication the 1st Ridgetown Scouts

The tree planting was quite an eye opener, especially for those from the US
Kees received quite a few comments when back at the conference

Delegates from the IUS were very impressed

She was granted $10,000 for her Youth Drop in Centre
